Volunteering in Israel

Yashar Lachayal

Yashar LaChayal began during the summer of 2006, at the height of the second Lebanese war. Our community in Maale Adumim, Israel, including Congregation Nachalat Yehuda, were "recruited" due to the sudden need to help our soldiers fighting on the front lines. Yashar LaChayal continues to be there for our troops, researching their needs and meeting them, wherever they are.

Who Do We Help?

  • The soldiers in the North - Now on heightened 24/7 alert against the possibility of the next Lebanese war.
  • The Border Patrol - Policing the borders of Israel, manning the watch towers, scouring the borders for illegal entries, preventing the suicide bombing terrorists from entering Israel, protecting our cities and holy sites.
  • The soldiers on the Gaza frontier - Relentlessly pursuing terrorists who are lobbing rockets over our border, and protecting it from infiltration.
  • The special forces - Bravely entering dangerous areas in search of terrorists and their hiding places, weapons caches, and bomb factories. They act as listening posts for planned terrorist attacks, preventing them before they happen.

How Do We Work?

Yashar LaChayal focuses on our soldiers' day-to-day needs. These brave men and women deserve our love and support. We start by listening to the troops in the field, to find out what they need. We speak to their unit commanders and to those responsible for supplies, and then we step in to fill the gap. By going directly to the soldier, Yashar LaChayal eliminates the bureaucracy to get them what they need in the quickest way possible.
