Description: With funding from UJA- Federation of New York Service Initiative, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) will develop a 10-day Short-Term Service Program in Israel in partnership with the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at New York University.  Our 20-student group will be stationed in Akko, where, together with local counterparts, participants will refurbish bomb shelters and volunteer in community clubs for children, youth, and elderly.  In addition, students will learn about social welfare issues in Israel and how JDC, in partnership with the Israeli government and others, is addressing challenges facing Israel's underserved populations
